The sea is a map is San Lorenzo's second album. It is the follow up to "Nothing new ever works" that was released on Gringo Records in 2000.This CD is a collection of 6 brand new tracks along with the first 3 rare vinyl-only singles (1998-2000). The new material is the most elegant and powerful guitar music the band has yet produced.

Their mixture of quiet introspection and raging epics has often seen them lumped in with Mogwai and the rest of the post-rock crowd. San Lorenzo offer so much more with strains of Yo La Tengo, The Fall and Talking Heads. Right from the onset the band have received critical acclaim and support from both John Peel and Steve Lamacq. Support slots with Idlewild have introduced them to a wider audience.

"Young people who have been at the Slint pills and Fugazi lozenges, and indeed, the whole medicine cabinet of US post-hardcore. And they are all the better for it. Quality." Kitty Empire, NME.
"All full of innocent sweetness and yet with a tangible underlying nastiness about it. Nice" Fracture.
"A bruising temper tantrum, veering dangerously from picturesque quietude to raging, railing vehemence." Stevie Chick, CTCL/NME
